Brigade of Gurkhas is the collective term for units of the current British Army that are composed of Nepalese soldiers. EGKH draws its inspiration fro this khukuri from the Brigade of Gurkhas which at the time of this writing is 3,640 personnel strong. The brigade includes infantry, engineer, signalman, logistics, training & support units. They are famous for their ever-present khukuris (also called “Kukris” or “Khukris” outside Nepal) which is a distinctive heavy knife with a curved blade and also for their reputation of being fierce fighters and brave soldiers.

They take their name from the hill town named “Gorkha” located in the mid-hills of Nepal where the Nepalese kingdom had expanded. The ranks have always been dominated by four ethnic groups: the Gurungs and Magars from central Nepal; and the Rais and Limbus from the east, who live in the families of hill farmers who live in hill villages of Nepal.

We list here the 9″ Nepal Army Jungle Khukuri Knife with cap badges of Gurkha army brigade engraved on this kukri from EGKH for knife collectors. The notch (kaura or kaudi) in the blade near the hilt of most khukuris serves as conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, thus preventing it from soiling the hilt, as well as a device for catching and neutralizing an enemy blade. This khukuri can be used to chop wood, firewood, bone, and clean bushes during outdoor adventures.
