This Farmer’s Working Heavy Duty Khukuri (“kukri” or “khukri“) is a handmade knife forged from high carbon steel and high manganese steel. It is important to remember that the steel used in this khukuri is not 100% stainless steel. After each use, you may need to keep it clean and dry to resist getting rust in the blade. The advantage of this steel is that it has a better ability to maintain sharp edges than stainless steel. This will assist you with a perfect cut every time. With reasonable maintenance after every use, this khukuri will last for a long lifetime.
The 10″ blade in this Farmer’s Working Heavy Duty Khukuri is made from 5160 carbon steel with a blasted satin finish and 5 inches handle is made of Rosewood. It is very stout and balanced. The handle is unique compared to other khukuri, the metal of the blade in the handle area is flat (full tang) and can be seen all around the handle. Rosewood is joined strongly from both sides with three alloy rivets which makes it stronger than the other khukuri. The Sheath is made of soft wood covered in water buffalo hide (leather). The leather is dying to Brown/Black color.
This knife for its durability and versatility is capable of making thin slices or intricate carvings, as well as chopping down a stout tree. However, this style of knife requires one to practice with it in order to use it skillfully and safely. It is heavier than most knives with a thick blade, when swung with force is capable of severing thick branches, as well as fingers, hands, feet, bones, or major arteries.
Handcrafted by the famous & very skilled “Bishwakarmas” (“Kaami” or blacksmith) using very high-quality materials in a very traditional manner.
