12″ Full Tang Balance Khukuri | Authentic Handmade Kukri is one of the traditional khukuri by EGKH. This Balance Khukuri (also called kukri or khukuri by many people outside Nepal) has a beautiful curved blade shape. Our team of traditional Nepalese blacksmiths, called Kaami, forged it at our factory in Nepal. Nepalese blacksmiths have been using traditional tools to forge blades for generations. We made this khukuri knife from 5160 High Carbon Steel with a balanced oil temper on the edge.
This 12″ Full Tang Balance Khukuri | Authentic Handmade Kukri has a 12-inch blade made from highly graded 5160 carbon steel with a polished finish and a razor-sharp edge. There is a 6-inch long full tang handle made from strong rosewood with a guard. The guard will protect your hand from the extremely sharp edge of the blade when you are using it. The scabbard is made from two pinewood pieces which are glued together by Laha (a traditional Nepali glue) and then wrapped in water buffalo leather. This is a practical khukuri that can be used to chop wood & bone, cut meat, clear branches & bushes, hack firewood, slaughter animals for food, etc.
The handle has a circumference of 4.5 inch, providing a comfortable grip. With a belly measuring 2.5 inch, an upper spine of 6 mm, and a lower spine of 3 mm, this Khukuri offers both strength and precision. The blade is polished, razor-sharp, making it ideal for heavy-duty outdoor tasks. It is also easy to sharpen and has been carefully oil-quenched to achieve optimal balanced tempering with appropriate hardness. Its spine hardness ranges from 22-25 RC, while the belly hardness stands at 45-46 RC and the edge hardness at an impressive 58-60 RC.
A Karda & Chakmak are included with this khukuri. Karda is a sharp knife that can be used to cut fruits & vegetables, open tin cans, etc. The Chakmak is a blunt steel that can be used to hone the khukuri blade or used to produce sparks for fire with fire steel or flint. This khukuri along with all our other blades are backed & covered by the EGKH Warranty to ensure you’re at peace of mind while ordering or using it.
