Origin & Design:

This is 14″ Gurkha Issue Traditional Cheetlange Khukuri. The khukuri is a traditional Nepalese khukuri with a rat tail tang handle. The khukuri originates in Chitlang, a small hilly town situated in the eastern part of Nepal. Hence it is called Chitlange khukuri. Chitlang people specialized in many ornamental and decorative displayers amongst which the Chitlange khukuri is one of their prized and prestigious creations. A Chitlange khukuri is basically a simple working and decorative knife which performs very effectively while using it on the farm or in the jungle. The Chitlange people have strived to capture the essence of glory, sovereignty, character, and culture of the people of Nepal in this unique work of art.

Most people mostly use this knife as a decorative tool because of its elegant and delicate look despite it being equally effective for regular & rough use. The knife’s shape is similar to that of Chainpure khukuris, but with some differences in blade finish & handle design. The forging of the blade from the tip all the way down to the notch makes the khukuri very special as this is the hardest part of crafting for any skilled craftsman requiring more effort and time. It is also somewhat similar to Sirupate Khukuri with a narrower blade. The grip base is extra-wide allowing for a super tight grip during use. We made this khukuri from highly graded 5160 carbon steel which is excellent for general cutting and light to moderate chopping.

Build Quality & What’s Included?

The 14″ Gurkha Issue Traditional Chitlange Khukuri is hand-forged by skilled blacksmiths in Nepal. The blade is super strong with proper tempering & oil quenching. We have highly polished the blade and also beautifully crafted the rat-tail tang handle from hard rosewood. The scabbard made from cottonwood is covered in high-quality water buffalo leather.

We also provide two small utility knives called “karda” and “chakmak” with the purchase of this khukuri. Chakmak which is a blunt steel knife is used for sharpening the blade or striking a spark with a flint. The other little sharp knife is karda which is used for skinning small animals such as rabbits. The scabbard also has two pockets on the back which hold the two small utility knives.

This Khukuri comes with the official EGKH Warranty. So there are no questions about the quality of the blade.
