This is an 11″ Full Tang Traditional Hunting Sirupate Khukuri | British Gurkhas Issue Khukuri by Ex Gurkha Khukuri. This khukuri has an 11-inch blade made from highly graded 5160 carbon steel. The blade has a balanced oil-quenching temper and is sharpened and ready to use upon arrival. The name “Sirupate’” is derived from the word “Siru” which is a species of grass that has very narrow and sharp leaves. Unlike other types of khukuris the blade of the Sirupate khukuri is very narrow that provides for razor-sharp cutting. The Sirupate design of this khukuri is accompanied by a raw finished blade. The blade is less bent at the spine and it is not as wide as other knives.

This 11″ Full Tang Traditional Hunting Sirupate Khukuri has a full tang handle made from rosewood & water buffalo bone which is 5-inch in length. You can see the metal part of the blade that runs through the entire handle length. This type of handle is excellent for heavy-duty work as the impact of the blade is evenly distributed throughout the blade and to the user’s hand respectively.

The Khukuri is effective as a chopping and slashing knife. While most famed for its use in the military, it is the most commonly used multipurpose tool in the fields and homes in Nepal. Moreover, it can be found in almost every house in Nepal. It has varied uses from building wooden structures, clearing, chopping firewood, digging, slaughtering animals for food, cutting meat and vegetables to skinning animals, and opening cans. This is primarily used as a general farm and household tool. The khukuri can be used as a survival knife or camping knife for outdoor adventures. The present Gurkha soldiers from the British Army also use a similar blade design which is light but also very useful at the same time for their jungle training.
