12″ Service No.1 Guard Khukuri | Blocker Handle Kukri

This is a full tang hand forged 12″ Service No.1 Guard Khukuri | Blocker Handle Kukri. This is a very popular & common khukuri amongst the army soldiers. Due to its popularity, Ex Gurkha Khukuri House has remade this khukuri stronger and steadier with flat tang blade attached to the handle with two rivets bolting from both sides. All Khukuris have two pockets on the back of the scabbard which hold a blunt steel called “chakmak” for sharpening the blade or for striking spark with a flint and a little knife known as “karda” used for skinning small animals such as rabbits. The notch (kaura or kaudi) in the blade near the hilt of most khukuris serves as the conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, thus preventing it from soiling the hilt, as well as a hook-like part for catching and neutralizing an enemy blade.

The 12″ Service No.1 Guard Khukuri | Blocker Handle Kukri is made of 12-inch (25.4 cm) semi-polished blade that has been forged from highly graded 5160 carbon steel. The blade is razor sharp with a balanced oil temper. It is also easy to sharpen the blade with the provided “chakmak” in the scabbard. The full tang blocker handle is 5-inch (12.70 cm) and made from solid rosewood. Its scabbard is made from pinewood which is wrapped in refined water buffalo leather using traditional Nepali glue called laha. The weight of the blade is approx. 700 grams. This is an outdoor or jungle knife for bone chopping and is also suitable for camping. The knife comes with two small utility Knives (Karda & Chakmak).
