This is our 18″ Acid Etched Viking Throwing Axe. We have forged the blade of this bearded axe with a length of about 5.5-inch and the length of the cutting side of the blade about 5-inch. The blade is hand forged from highly graded 5160 carbon steel. There is an 18-inch long shaft attached to the axe head which is made from ash wood which is a type of hardwood. Our blacksmith did beautiful etching on the blade carefully using the traditional acid etching method without damaging the blade. The handle is also handcrafted with proper ergonomics so that the axe can be used as a melee & throwing weapon. We have a nice-looking leather wrap on the handle that will give you a comfortable grip when using the axe. The build of the axe is very durable & comfortable. We also provide you with a high-quality leather sheath that will protect the edge of the blade when not in use.

This axe can be used to cut down trees, chop firewood, and split logs with ease. The axe can also be used for shaving and crafting wood by gripping it right behind the beard of the axe on the handle. This type of axe was used by the Vikings to dismantle an enemy shield & weapons and protect the hand when gripped on the handle behind the beard of the axe. You can also use it, in the same way, you use a hook. The ability of this axe to be able to hold at the top of the handle behind the beard gives the user more control and detailed wood crafting. If you come across a bear, wolf, or mountain lion in the wild you can use this axe as a defense weapon to protect yourself out in the wild.
