36″ Buff Head Khukuri | Hand Forged Sacrificial Large Kukri | EGKH has earned the distinction of being the largest and heaviest blade of its kind, not only within Nepal but potentially globally. Originating from the renowned khukuri-producing region of Bhojpur in eastern Nepal, this variant is aptly named the Bhojpure khukuri. Boasting an impressive 36-inch blade and a total length of 47 inches, including its 11-inch wooden handle, it surpasses the standard khukuri in both size and weight.
The Bhojpure khukuri holds a specific role in the sacrificial ceremonies of Nepal, particularly during the significant festival of Dashain, celebrated in late September or early October. Employed in religious rituals, this khukuri assumes a crucial part in the ceremonial beheading of buffalos & goats. The prevailing belief is that the ritual performer must execute the task in a single strike to ward off bad omens for themselves and their family. This khukuri embodies the cultural significance of the festival and represents the ritualistic practices deeply rooted in Nepalese traditions. Through its use in the symbolic triumph of good over evil, the Bhojpure khukuri becomes a powerful cultural artifact, reflecting the rich heritage and beliefs of the community.
The 36″ Buff Head Khukuri | Hand Forged Sacrificial Large Kukri | EGKH is a hand-forged large kukri sword that is both durable & super strong. The blade is made from highly graded 5160 carbon steel with a polished finish and a razor-sharp edge. Our team of traditional Nepalese blacksmiths, called Kaami, forged it at our factory in Nepal. Nepalese blacksmiths have been using traditional tools to forge blades for generations. There is a long rat tail tang handle made from strong rosewood. The large blade along with the scabbard & the two utility knives weighs 4250 gm. The blade has an upper spine thickness of 11 mm and a belly width of 10.9cm.
This Hand Forged Sacrificial Large Kukri is specially made for the sacrifice culture but besides that, it excels in various tasks, including chopping wood and bone, preparing firewood, and clearing bushes, thanks to its super razor-sharp, inward-curved blade. The meticulous forging process ensures a balanced tempering, enhancing the blade’s performance. The pinewood scabbard, wrapped in water buffalo leather, encapsulates the knife securely, reflecting both functionality and craftsmanship. A Karda & Chakmak are included with this khukuri. Karda is a sharp knife that can be used to cut fruits & vegetables, open tin cans, etc. The Chakmak is a blunt steel that can be used to hone the khukuri blade or used to produce sparks for fire with fire steel or flint.
